We took off from the Zmolek's in the morning to drive about 45 minutes to Temecula to spend the day with Grandma Norma!
We
picked her up for church where she was able to meet with the bishopric
and tell then who she is so she can begin to get rides again to church
since she moved. It was lovely and she was so gracious.
We
took her to lunch and donuts and just loved hearing all about Alexander
Findlay MacDonald! Her great grandpa who settled Mesa AZ and was the
first mayor.
We went back to her gorgeous apartment and
this is where the real fun began. Miles played a little mini concert
for grandma and of course several other residents who meandered in.
Then grandma and miles played duet and duet together. You have never
seen a boy more exited. She told him he had music in him and that he
was very talented..and that they had a bond because of it. It was so
choice!
Ella and I danced while they played. And finally
grandma Norma played a beautiful concerto for us! I had never heard her
play like that before! It was do special. Love that 88 year old Lady.
We played pool...Payton is amazing at it. Jer helped grandma get her Facebook app back on her iPad! :)
Grandma
told us of her job there at Sterling. She is the ambassador. She
welcomes new people and helps them feel welcome. Wow....does she ever
do that job well. Everyone knows her and loves her there. It was so
inspiring to see that in her. She is so happy and just loves life.
As
we were leaving to head to Huntington beach, Miles said he would have
liked to have stayed a lot more with grandma Norma and that he had the
best time there! They really bonded! Now that we are closer we will be
making more trips there for sure!
Then the drive to
Huntington beach! About an hour and 1/2. The kids on the Google map the
whole way trying to figure out where we were going!
