April 19th is declared a Holiday in Centerville!
This is the long awaited day / week in our house. The day the Deuel Creek Irrigation Company turns on the water for the summer! The kids can use the water in their digging / mudding / building adventures, but not the culinary water since it is so much more expensive. You have never seen kids more exited than when they noticed today that the water finally got turned on. It was supposed to be on April 14th, and believe me - there were some in my house counting the days until the water would be turned on (literally counting on the calendar like they were awaiting Christmas Day). You can imagine the disappointment when there was a slight delay.
Many from the neighborhood also enjoyed opening day of our water shares today! There were erosion activities, mud pies, houses built with all manner of different mud layers, dams constructed, too many amazing creations to mention. I honestly wish I didn't have so many things to get ready for tonight's Pinewood derby that kept me in the house - because I really wanted to be right out there with them.
Happy April 19th everyone. AKA - "Water Game day".
The supervisors. At first Miles and David were playing legos until they noticed the wonder of the world being created on the side of my yard...they jumped right in. (Luckily Miles changed into what we call their "dirt clothes" - kept in the garage for times such as these).
Building Dams, tunnels, and other structures. They even constructed some sort of "sink" as they called it for washing their hands, that somehow had clean water flowing into it.
Yes - Rachel;'s hand is 10 inches into the earth or more...she is digging out a large lake of some sort there.
Thank Leah! My kids had a blast and told Paul all about it when they talked to him last night. Also, thank you for a great Pine Wood Derby. You leaders are awesome!
